Mindfulness Meditation, the popular course that helps participants learn to relieve pain, reduce stress and enhance wellness, is once again being offered by the Integrative Medicine Medicine Center at St. Francis Hospital. This program was developed and taught by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center over 30 years ago. At this time 18,000 patients have participated in this eight-week long course designed to teach people with a wide range of chronic conditions how to take better care of themselves. This program has been especially helpful for individuals facing the challenges of illness such as chronic pain, headaches, gastrointestinal disorders, heart disease, cancer or other chronic conditions.
